From a very young age, Norah was interested in medicine and other related subjects stemming from a deep-rooted interest in science. This past summer, she was able to work in a research lab under Dr. Igor Kovalchuk in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Lethbridge. It was an opportunity to work in an environment Norah calls “inspiring” and a valuable experience she would recommend to otherstudents.
“Working or volunteering for a professor at a university allows you to learn a lot under the supervision of somebody who is very talented at what they do,” she says. “There are a lot of different scientific venues, so working or doing independent studies for a professor will help you narrow down where you would like to continue to work.”
Among Norah’s interests outside of school are playing on the University of Lethbridge women’s soccer team, basketball, volleyball, badminton, softball, hiking and running.
"Other than that, I enjoy hanging out with friends and family, camping and working on my family’s farm,” she says.
