Suzanne C. Checkryn, P.Eng., PMP, MBA, Member at Large

Suzanne is a Professional Engineer and Queen's Master of Business Administration graduate with more than 20 years of experience working in the energy & resources sector. Throughout her career, Suzanne has helped companies overcome significant engineering challenges, complete complex projects on schedule and develop business collaboratively and with high integrity. Suzanne’s specific areas of expertise include electrical, instrumentation and control systems engineering, business development and project management. Within the project arena, Suzanne has worked at multiple construction sites across western Canada and also has international construction experience working in Russia and in South Korea. Through experiences in technical, project and corporate roles, Suzanne has developed a strong customer focus and a talent for stakeholder relations and facilitation with diverse groups. Outside of work, Suzanne enjoys traveling, sailing and performance driving. As a STEM female who has spent her career working in environments with diversity challenges, Suzanne is interested in helping bring more diversity to energy & resources work places and closing gender gaps. Suzanne believes AWSN is an important organization that brings a higher profile about STEM to our province and provides opportunities to not only young females, but also other underrepresented groups and experienced professionals. She is enthusiastic about helping shape the future of AWSN and giving back to Alberta’s STEM community.
