WISEST Turns 35 and 'No Belles'

Did you know that 2017 marks WISEST’s 35th anniversary? We can’t believe it either, and we are so excited to celebrate this landmark year with our community.  For 35 years, we have been encouraging diversity and empowering women to pursue, science, engineering and technology, and we want to CELEBRATE!

Mark October 12 on your calendars!  We will be presenting Portal Theatre’s Fringe-Favourite, "NoBelles,” a play that tells the story of some of the 16 women who have won a Nobel Prize (and some who didn’t, but should have). After the play, we are also hosting a post-show discussion around the theme “Oh, the places we have been, we are at and we will go!” Panelists will include:

  • Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour, Assoicate Dean of Diversity, Faculty of Science, UofA
  • Ms. Linda Duncan, Member of Parliment, Edmonton - Strathcona
  • Dr. Ania Ulrich, Associate Dean (Outreach), Faculty of Engineering, UofA
  • Dr. Erica Tiong, Microbiologist for VIROTECH
