The Alberta Women’s Science Network (AWSN) Annual General Meeting was held on June 7, 2026, at the YWCA Calgary and brought together members, volunteers, partners, and supporters from across Alberta in a hybrid format. Attendees joined both in person and virtually, allowing participants from communities throughout the province to engage in discussions, connect with one another, and contribute to the future direction of the organization. The AGM provided an opportunity to reflect on a year of impact and celebrate the achievements of women and gender-diverse individuals in STEM. Members received updates on AWSN’s programs, outreach initiatives, partnerships, advocacy efforts, and the continued growth and success of WinSTEM Week.
AWSN presented it's financial report, which provided a transparent overview of the organization’s budget, expenditures, funding sources, and overall financial position. This open discussion reinforced AWSN’s commitment to accountability and responsible stewardship of resources. The AGM also included the nomination and election of new Board members, welcoming new leaders and perspectives to the organization. Members had the opportunity to learn about the candidates, participate in the election process, and recognize the contributions of outgoing Board members and volunteers.
Looking ahead, AWSN shared its strategic priorities and plans for the upcoming year, including new programming opportunities, community partnerships, professional development initiatives, and efforts to further support women and gender-diverse individuals in STEM across Alberta. Members were invited to provide feedback, share ideas, and help shape the organization's future direction.
AWSN extends its sincere thanks to everyone who attended, whether in person or online, and to the volunteers, committee members, partners, and supporters whose dedication continues to strengthen and grow Alberta’s STEM community.
