Mercy works as a Product Specialist at Eaton for the Low Voltage Control Assemblies and she has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manitoba. Mercy has experience providing technical customer service for engineered products. In her spare time, she loves volunteering for causes close to her heart such as Women in STEM and sustainability initiatives. Mercy has had the opportunity to volunteer as a board member and membership director for the Congress of Black Women Manitoba. Mercy is beyond excited to join the Partnership committee at AWSN and she looks forward to advancing AWSN’s vision of promoting STEM programs focused on women/girls by collaborating with various stakeholders in Alberta.

Jen Gemmell

Jen Gemmell is a Staff Scientist at the largest science centre in Western Canada, where she leads programming, exhibits, and events in a dynamic hands-on science gallery and makerspace. She has an extensive background in science and education but also has experience managing a team of staff and volunteers and contributes to fundraising and public engagement initiatives. With over 15 years of experience in informal science education, Jen has developed and led initiatives that foster confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging among girls and women in STEM. She has held several committee roles with non-profit organizations and is a seasoned public speaker. Jen also coaches an inclusive youth robotics team—one of which recently represented Canada on the international stage—demonstrating her commitment to mentorship and inclusive leadership. Jen brings expertise in program development, event planning, and project management to the AWSN, and is excited to advance its mission of supporting women and girls in STEM.
Holly Vogel

Holly Vogel is a Masters in Neuroscience Graduate from the University of Calgary Hotchkiss Brain Institute currently working in the area of stroke clinical trials. She previously completed a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Alberta Specializing in Pharmacology. Through her position as a Board Member of AWSN, she hopes to contribute to many AWSN initiatives that promote the recruitment, retention, and recognition of women and underrepresented groups in the STEM fields.
